Controlling Gophers

Hotline questions about gophers are starting to come in.  Gophers can be extremely frustrating!  

Winter and early spring are the times to trap and control populations, prior to breeding.   Managing gopher problems includes home-owner or professional baiting, trapping, and exclusion methods such as protecting the plants from below the soil level with screening. 

Please note that the EPA recently decided that aluminum phosphide fumigant can no longer be used around homes, so professional exterminators can no longer offer you this option.  Information at the link has not yet been updated to reflect this change.
