Youth Garden Workshops
Youth Garden Workshops
About The Program
A full day Saturday workshop will teach you how to take the first steps toward creating, restoring, or enhancing your youth garden program. Topics include garden design ideas, soil preparation, planting, watering, and pest management. Also learn how to build a support network and connect gardening activities to curriculum standards.
The Buddy System
Because teamwork is so fundamental to creating and sustaining a garden, we designed these workshops for everyone involved, including but not limited to: instructors, administrators, garden coordinators, mentors, parents, community members, and other volunteers.
Attending The Workshops
Each participant of the Youth Garden Workshop will take home:
- An electronic copy of California School Garden Network’s Creating Gardens for Learning
- A comprehensive list of youth garden resources
- A packet of useful handouts relevant to the topics addressed in the workshop, from the California School Garden Network and UCCE Master Gardeners of Orange County
All workshops will be held at the University of California South Coast Research and Extension Center located at 7601 Irvine Boulevard, Irvine, CA 92618. More information will be provided via email upon registration.
