Family: Malvaceae

Description: Native to California and Arizona low deserts, fast-growing evergreen shrub

Full sun or part shade: Full or part sun

Water: Little to none once established

Soil: Well-draining

Habit and form: Rounded shrub, grows to 5 feet tall and wide; attractive, soft, gray leaves

Flower type, color, bloom season: Showy orange-yellow flowers in summer

Pruning time & method: Cut flowering stems back to first set of leaves when flowering is complete. Can prune to maintain shape

Maintenance tips: Not much maintenance required once established
