Mosquitoes & Vector Control
In the last couple of years (since 2020 or so), we in So Cal have been itching and scratching much more often - even during the daytime. But why?

This week on In the Garden with UC Master Gardeners, MG host Dece Morgan talks with Laura Krueger Prelesnik, Vector Ecologist and Board-Certified Entomologist with OC Mosquito and Vector Control District (2019) and Mary-Joy Coburn, Director of Community Affairs of the Greater LA County Vector Control District (2020) about, you guessed it, Mosquitoes!

What some consider a nuisance at picnics or unbearable in places like the South or even Alaska can really be deadly if they carry certain diseases like West Nile, malaria, or dengue. Therefore, it is extremely important to pay attention to areas around your home that become breeding grounds for the pests. Learn about where those places are likely to be and how to protect yourself, your family, and neighbors from all the different mosquitoes we have here in Orange County.
