All-America Selections
This week on In the Garden with UC Master Gardeners, we will rerun a program from 2016 titled “All-America Selections”. It's all about flowers and vegetables that have been “Tested Nationally and Proven Locally™”.

MG Sally Richards talked with Diane Blazek, Executive Director of AAS (All America Selections) about how new varieties of plants are chosen, tested and judged as the winning cultivars each year.

Did you know that the Sugar Snap Pea was given a Gold Medal and called a “Breeding Breakthrough” back in 1979. Before that, you couldn't find edible, potted peas. On their website https://all-americaselections.org/, you can find all winners listed going back to 1933! Sally and Diane talk about certain 2016 winning tomatoes, greens, peppers, kohlrabi, and flowers. The website, again, has all the past and current winners and you can find the best varieties for your growing area all across the country.
