Check out your favorite seeds at your neighborhood Seed Library. What a concept! Just like at a library of books, you can “borrow” a book/some seeds, plant the story in your mind/seed in your garden, harvest the bounty of knowledge/food, then check back in the offspring in the form that well-read book/the next generation of seeds to nourish and feed someone else.

This week on In the Garden with UC Master Gardeners, MG Dece Morgan takes us to the Orange Public Library Foundation Seed Lending Library located in downtown Orange for a unique 30 minutes to tell you how all this works.

Her guests are the Executive Director of the Orange Public Library Foundation, Linda Cundiff, and Megan Penn, Executive Director and founder of Orange Home Grown (OHG). The next half of the show will be another segment of important Master Gardener information just for you! Mark Fierle talks with Certified Square-foot Garden teacher Daniel Abair. Learn how to grow in raised beds using the square-foot gardening techniques. This novel concept of gardening was developed by Mel Bartholomew. Imagine how to get all the harvest of typical row gardening in just 20% of the space!
