    Common Name:  Jerusalem Sage

    Botanical Name:  Phlomis fruticosa

    Description:  Evergreen shrub, to 4 feet tall and wide with woolly-gray leaves that are white underneath. Mediterranean plant

    Sun/ shade:  Full sun but can tolerate light shade for part of day

    Water:  Low water

    Soil: Not particular about soil but needs good drainage

    Flower type:  Deep golden yellow

    Flowers and bloom season: 1 inch woolly flowers in ball-shaped whorls along upper half of stems; blooms in spring and summer  

    Pruning time and method:  Prune late Winter/early spring before start of annual bloom. Cut back plant in half to keep compact

    Maintenance tips:  With watering, will produce several waves of bloom in spring and summer if cut back lightly after each flowering

    Common problems:  No significant problems

    Comments:  Resistant to oak root fungus
