Bananas, harvesting

  • Banana stalks usually form in late summer, winter over, and then plump up and ripen in March and April, or when the top of the cluster starts to turn yellow. Harvest either by cutting the stalk when the fruit is plump and green and ripen off the tree, or allow the fruit to ripen on the tree and cut as each hand is ripe. Be careful that the fruit does not rot on the tree.
