Mosquitoes & Vector Control
It's Mosquito season again. This week on In the Garden with UC Master Gardeners, we are playing a repeat hosted by MG and KUCI staff host Dece Morgan who talked with Laura Krueger Prelesnik, Vector Ecologist and Board-Certified Entomologist with OC Mosquito and Vector Control District (2019) and Mary-Joy Coburn, Director of Community Affairs of the Greater LA County Vector Control District (2020).

What some consider a nuisance at picnics or unbearable in places like the South or even Alaska can really be deadly if they carry certain diseases like West Nile, malaria, or dengue.

That is why it is extremely important to pay attention to areas around your home that become breeding grounds for the pests. Prime example are French drains or underground drainage systems where water can pool if the slope is inadequate or it becomes blocked.

Learn about where those places are likely to be and how to protect you, your family, and neighbors from all the different mosquitoes we have here in Orange County.
